Once up on a time I was a crunchy all natural hippie. I made all my own products. ALL of them. Making my own scrubs has been a passion of mine for as long as I could remember. The feel of silky fresh scrubbed skin isn’t something that ever gets old.
The lotions, face washes, and anything else that requires more than mixing some sugar with some oils. Turns to a bit more work than this mom with Irish twins can handle.
My thing since day one.
Self care started with the pages of Teen Bop, I was rubbing bananas on my face and covering my hair in egg whites from an early age. Though my parents hated it. Really though who was to know that draining my ‘oatmeal bath” would cause the plumbing to clog. Also had no idea that mayonnaise on my hair would leave the bathroom smelling like a chicken salad sandwich.
With three kids, and two of them being under two, I have much less time to be in the kitchen, combining oils and powders to create my skincare, but the need for self care is greater than en its ever been.
Taking care of mom
Today, though less time, I need my self care more than ever. My bathtub is my sanctuary, give me a good bath bomb and a candle and I’ll be in there for at least an hour. It’s the one of the rare times, I can be alone in my home. A set of ear plugs keeps the noise of the toddler muffled…
My bath benefit box subscription has become my lifeline
With three kids, and two of them being under two, I have much less time to be in the kitchen, combining oils and powders to create my skincare.
The chemical horrors of the beauty industry these days is too much to ignore. The products I look for now are clean, and high quality. I refuse to sacrifice my health for a difference in price. I have no intentions on soaking in a bath of poison… ew
I don’t consider it self-care if I don’t LOVE the products that I’m using.
My sister works in the spa industry, so if I don’t know what to get or if I have a question on a product. I simply give her a call and see what she would recommend.
What this means for you
In my blog I’ll let you know what gets the job done. As always I’m trying as much as I can get my hands on. There aren’t any plans of stopping soon, you can expect honest reviews of the products I’ve tried and the products I love. Also products not to waste your time on.
I’ll also share my love of local (and hopefully not so local) spa and med spa treatments. I’m no stranger to a facial and I’m always happy to go give a place a try.
Normal mom, fab mom
There was a time in my life before kids. A magical era where I was able to get a facial once a month. These days, my kids are no stranger to me walking around with strange looking goop on my face.
I’m getting older and at 32 I’m no stranger to Botox and fillers, they work for me but I know they can be intimidating, I’ll take you with me for my medspa treatments and let you know what I use, and where I go, before and afters from a real person… a normal mom
(spoiler…. my first time getting botox, I passed out….)
I’ll also let my readers in on what supplements I use, to what I eat to keep myself healthy and full (because I’m not sure who these moms are who have time to cook and eat more then three meals a day)
The oxygen mask
Being a mom can deplete your body both inside and out, I’ve really become passionate about self-care, because I need it. And as a lot of people around me have become moms I have noticed that they also have been feeling the need to care for themselves.
My blog will just help you avoid trying the crap…… while also probably getting a few laughs at my fails
